Around Portland

By MAX Light Rail

From Chinatown to the Waterfront, the award-winning MAX Light Rail runs on 44.5 miles of track connecting downtown to the suburbs, the convention center and the airport. What’s more, travel within the “Free Rail Zone” … is FREE!

Service begins between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., seven days a week, and trains run until midnight. Riders lucky enough to catch the historic Vintage Trolley (Sundays only, March-December) along the MAX route are treated to a guided tour along the way. The Free Rail Zone stretches across the Willamette River to include stops at the Oregon Convention Center and nearby Lloyd Center shopping mall.
